CO2 Laser
A specific mid-infrared wavelength of light is produced by the carbon dioxide laser. This makes it possible for its laser energy to be effectively absorbed in water. In fact, CO2 lasers are perfect for accurate and safe ablation for a variety of skin issues, including milia removal, wart removal, and the treatment of acne scars. CO2 lasers are part of a laser resurfacing process. The laser emits energy of a wavelength of 10,600 nanometers. Water within the skin cells absorbs this type of wavelength, resulting in the ablation of the superficial layer of the skin. The CO2 Fractional Resurfacing laser uses carbon dioxide to precisely remove the damaged skin’s outermost layers while promoting the regrowth of healthy skin beneath. The CO2 reduces superficial to somewhat deep wrinkles, scarring, photodamage, creepiness, and laxity of the skin.
Although the precise time varies on the area being treated, it usually takes two hours or less to finish.
This period of time includes an extra 30 minutes for topical numbing to be used before the procedure.
The CO2 does cause some discomfort, we take care to keep our patients at ease throughout the entire process.
